COMMUNITY ENVIROMENTAL SCIENCE CENTRES

FOR NATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

Encouraged by our success with private schools, WESC received numerous grants (CIDA, ALI, and American Embassy) to address the wider educational requirements in Egyptian public schools, specifically in marginalized areas. After first testing to assure our teaching methodologies were applicable, we began developing sustainable environmental science learning centres in poor communities of Egypt. The goal of these centres is to provide education opportunities for youth and bring communities (civil society, government, and businesses) together to help serve as advocates for education and environment changes. These Centers were set up in:

·           Abu El Nomros, Giza (suburb of Cairo)
·          Belbeis, outside Heliopolis (with Sekem Corporation)
